How do you handle a client who brings in a picture and expects to look exactly like the photo?

I had a girl sit in my chair today with a heavily filtered, facetuned picture of Madison Beer and she literally expected to walk out looking identical to her. The client has completely different bone structure, eye shape, and skin tone.
How do y'all handle the reality check without hurting their feelings or making them defensive? I feel like I spend half my consultation time managing wild expectations.

Honestly the first thing I do is address the lighting and editing before I even talk about the makeup.
I literally look at the photo and say, "Okay, so this photo is taken with professional studio lighting and has a soft-focus filter on it, so you won't see texture or pores like you do in real life. But what I love about this look on you is how they did the soft brown wing and the monochromatic nude lip. Let's adapt those specific elements to enhance your eye shape and skin tone!"
You have to redirect their focus from the person in the photo to the techniques used in the photo.

i just tell them straight up that makeup is art, not plastic surgery. you can mimic a style but you can't mimic a whole different face layout lol
