Best Booking Software for Brow Artists and Waxing Specialists in 2026

Primzy Team 16 min read

Brow and wax appointments are short, stacked back to back, and thin on margin, so every fee and every cancellation hurts. Here is what brow artists and waxers need from booking software, what the big platforms charge, and which one fits.

Best Booking Software for Brow Artists and Waxing Specialists in 2026

Quick answer: If you bring your own brow and wax clients, Primzy is our pick: a flat $40 a month, 0% commission on your own link, deposits, a cancellation waitlist, and formula records. GlossGenius suits polished solo setups, Square offers a free start, and Fresha, Booksy, or StyleSeat suit pros who need new-client discovery.

Updated October 2026. Prices change often, so confirm every figure on each vendor's site before you commit.

A brow shape can take 20 minutes. A lip wax takes less. Your day is a chain of short appointments, each with a small ticket, and a few of them cancel every week. On a $50 service, a 30% fee is $15, and an empty slot is money you cannot get back.

We make Primzy, so we rank ourselves first and show our reasoning. We also say where we are not the right fit, cite the vendors' own pages with dates, and flag numbers that conflict across sources.

What Brow Artists and Waxing Specialists Actually Need

Short appointments that stack without collisions. Zenoti, a software vendor, lists service-specific durations, multi-service sessions, and automated reminders as core needs for waxing studios (Zenoti, "Waxing Salon Software Guide" (July 16, 2026)). A day of 15 and 20 minute services breaks if two bookings can land on the same chair.

Patch tests and contraindication notes. The American Academy of Dermatology is blunt about one of them:

"No waxing, please. Waxing can cause permanent scars in people taking isotretinoin." American Academy of Dermatology, Isotretinoin FAQs (page updated September 12, 2023)

The same page says to avoid waxing for six months after the last dose. Its waxing guidance also says to stop prescription retinoids and retinol two to five days before waxing the face. For tinting, the FDA's Eye Cosmetic Safety page (content current as of June 28, 2022) says permanent lash and brow tints have been known to "cause serious eye injuries, including blindness." It also describes a narrow professional-use allowance for silver nitrate and an import alert on coal tar lash and brow dyes. Your state board and your tint maker's instructions decide what you may do. Your software should hold the patch test date, the result, and the notice the client saw.

Brow maps, formulas, and tint recipes. Tinting runs on recipes. A free community such as The Brow Formula Vault on Skool (160 members when we checked) sorts tint formulas by brow colour and skin tone. A free app, Brow Map NE from NE Pigments (12 ratings on the App Store), does mapping and symmetry checks from client photos. Neither is booking software, which is the point: the recipe and map belong on the client's record.

Add-ons that turn a short visit into a bigger ticket. A brow wax with a tint, or a lip and chin add-on, turns a $25 service into a $50 visit. Check how any platform handles add-ons first.

High volume, cancellations, and no-shows. Zenoti's 2026 benchmark, as summarized in its waxing guide, puts waxing cancellations at 18% in 2025, up from 14% in 2024, with no-shows near 1%. That is vendor-sourced, not independent. The direction is useful: your leak is the cancellation, so you need a deposit to commit the client and a waitlist to refill the slot.

Retail and supplies. Aftercare product sells at the chair, and wax and tint run out. Look for supply tracking and in-person payments.

If you also do microblading or other permanent makeup, our existing post, Best Booking Software for PMU and Microblading Artists in 2026, covers that side of the work.

Where the Big Platforms Let Brow and Wax Pros Down

Small tickets magnify every percentage and every add-on. Each figure below comes from the vendor's own pages, checked October 2026.

Fees applied to every client

On a small ticket, the published numbers add up quickly. StyleSeat's pricing page lists 30% of a new client's first visit, capped at $50, and its own August 2026 blog post adds a $2.35 booking fee charged to your clients. StyleSeat's pages also disagree with each other on the subscription: $19 a month as a limited-time new-pro rate ($199 a year) on the pricing page, $35 a month on the blog post (both accessed October 12, 2026). Booksy's pricing page lists 30% of a Boost client's first visit, capped at $100, plus $20 a month for each added user. Fresha's pricing page lists 20% on new marketplace clients with a $6 minimum, and says direct booking links and Instagram bookings are free.

Cost stacking: the price you see is not the price you pay

Vagaro's pricing page shows $23.99 a month, "exclusive" for the first six months, down from $30. Its price list (updated October 5, 2026) shows $10 for Forms, the add-on a patch test form would use, and 3.5% plus $0.19 on keyed-in payments. Vagaro lists a free marketplace listing; per PaymentReview (fact-checked September 20, 2026), it takes 20% only when you opt into its Fill My Books promotions.

GlossGenius is simpler but tiered. Its pricing page lists Standard at $28 a month ($24 billed annually) and Gold at $56 ($48 annually). Forms and waivers and the automated waitlist sit on Gold, and card payments carry a flat 2.6%.

Data you cannot easily take with you

Brow bars and wax studios build big client lists. Moving one is slow if the platform makes export hard. On any platform, confirm you can export your clients, notes, and photos before you sign.

What This Looks Like in Real Numbers

Assumptions (ours, for illustration): a solo pro with one calendar takes 100 appointments a month at a $50 average, so $5,000 in services. Each booking takes a 30% online deposit, $15 each, so $1,500 in online deposits. We compare platforms using the card rates each one publishes for online payments. In one scenario, 10 of the 100 appointments are first visits from a platform's marketplace. On Primzy your clients pay card processing at checkout, so that line is $0 to you.

PlatformMonth, own link onlyMonth, with 10 marketplace first visitsProcessing on $1,500 of online deposits
Primzy$40$115 if all ten were found in Primzy's marketplace; $40 if they came through your own link$0 to the pro (the client pays it)
GlossGenius Gold (forms, waitlist)$56 monthly, $48 annualSame$39.00
Vagaro (Forms add-on)$40$40, or $140 if all ten came through opt-in Fill My Books at 20%$71.50
Fresha$19.95$119.95$61.85
Booksy$29.99$179.99$70.35
StyleSeat$19 to $35$169 to $185$69.00
Square AppointmentsFree $0, or Plus $49Same$79.50 on Free, $73.50 on Plus

The arithmetic, checked: $50 × 30% = $15 per deposit, and 100 × $15 = $1,500. Ten first visits cost StyleSeat or Booksy 10 × (30% × $50) = $150 and Fresha 10 × (20% × $50) = $100, which gives Fresha $19.95 + $100 = $119.95, Booksy $29.99 + $150 = $179.99, and StyleSeat $19 + $150 = $169 or $35 + $150 = $185. Vagaro is $30 + $10 for Forms = $40, with processing of $1,500 × 3.5% = $52.50 plus 100 × $0.19 = $19.00, so $71.50. GlossGenius is $1,500 × 2.6% = $39.00. Fresha's 2.79% + $0.20 is $41.85 + $20.00 = $61.85. Booksy's keyed-in 2.69% + $0.30 is $40.35 + $30.00 = $70.35. StyleSeat's card-on-file 2.6% + $0.30 is $39.00 + $30.00 = $69.00. Square Free's 3.3% + $0.30 is $49.50 + $30.00 = $79.50, and Plus at 2.9% + $0.30 is $43.50 + $30.00 = $73.50. Primzy's marketplace case is $40 + 10 × (15% × $50) = $40 + $75 = $115, and its processing line is $0 to you because the client pays it. Vagaro with all ten first visits through opt-in Fill My Books at 20% is $40 + 10 × (20% × $50) = $140.

Read this honestly. On the subscription alone, Square Free at $0 and the entry prices at Fresha and StyleSeat are lower than $40 a month. Add the card processing a pro pays on other platforms and the monthly totals with every client from your own link are Primzy $40, Square Free $79.50, Fresha $81.80, StyleSeat $88 to $104, GlossGenius Gold $95, Booksy $100.34, and Vagaro $111.50, because Primzy's clients pay the card fee at checkout. With ten first visits found in Primzy's marketplace, Primzy is $115, above GlossGenius Gold and Square Free, which list no new-client fee, and below the platforms that charge on first visits. Primzy also adds the records and tools below. Rates come from each vendor's page, and Vagaro's keyed-in fee conflicts across sources: $0.19 on Vagaro's own October 5, 2026 article, $0.30 in Koalendar's June 26, 2026 review. We used Vagaro's own figure.

#1: Primzy

Best for: Brow artists and waxing specialists who bring their own clients and want a flat price, deposits, and real records.

What makes Primzy work for brow and wax pros

Deposits at booking, plus a waitlist. A 30% deposit is authorized when the client books and captured when you confirm, and the slot is held once you confirm. If a client cancels a confirmed booking, the other clients waiting on that slot (up to five) are all offered it at once, and the first to accept gets it. That fits a business where cancellations, not no-shows, are the leak.

Your patch test and contraindication notice on the booking page. Custom service disclaimers show each client what you need them to read before they confirm, such as your patch test requirement or the isotretinoin and retinoid questions.

Records that hold the recipe. The Client CRM keeps private notes (patch test date and result, skin notes), a formula library linked to each client for tint recipes and timing, client photos for before and after brow maps, and direct messaging. Booking history and reports export to CSV; there is no client-list export.

Short appointments without collisions. Google Calendar sync is included, and Salon mode ($60 a month plus $5 a month per employee seat) adds multi-staff calendars with per-employee conflict detection when a second artist joins.

Supplies and margin. Inventory with usage logging and low-stock alerts covers wax and tint. Smart Analytics, with a receipt expense reader and a take-home simulator, shows what a $25 service really leaves you.

Reminders that send themselves. SMS, email, and in-app notifications confirm and remind, with unlimited confirmation and reminder texts. 500 texts a month are included, shared by mass texts and automations, with extra texts at $5 per 250. Clients need no account to book. Tap to Pay on iPhone is available for in-person payments; Android is in testing.

A flat, published price. $40 a month for one pro, 0% commission on bookings through your own shared link. A team uses Salon mode: $60 a month plus $5 a month per employee seat.

Where we take a share. If you teach a live class, such as a brow lamination workshop, Primzy keeps 20% of class sales.

The honest trade

Primzy has intake forms you attach to a service: after the booking is confirmed the client answers your questions and e-signs a consent or waiver. We make no legal-compliance claim about them, so ask a professional whether they cover your state's patch test and consent rules. The 30% deposit is required today, which means $7.50 on a $25 brow shape, and some pros will want a choice there. We do not charge no-show fees to a stored card. Primzy runs a local discovery marketplace with a one-time 15% commission on a brand-new client's first booking found there; your own shared link and every repeat booking are 0%. If another marketplace sends you clients, keep it while you move your regulars to your own link. We do not claim a retail checkout, payroll, or a time clock.

Use Primzy if:

  • You want deposits and a waitlist without a percentage on your regulars
  • You want patch test dates, tint recipes, and photos on every client
  • You are adding a second artist and want a small per-seat price
  • You want a platform that invests in your career, including a Professional Freedom Grant

#2: GlossGenius

Best for: Solo pros who want a polished page and are happy to run on the Gold plan.

Standard starts at $28 monthly ($24 annual), but forms and the automated waitlist are on Gold at $56 monthly ($48 annual), per GlossGenius's pricing page. GlossGenius's own April 13, 2026 article matches. The catch: 2.6% on card payments, and 1.8% more for instant payouts.

#3: Square Appointments

Best for: Pros who want to start at $0.

Free, Plus at $49, and Premium at $149 per location, per Square's pricing page (accessed October 12, 2026). The catch: sources conflict on what Free includes: Square lists unlimited staff calendars on Free, while Koalendar (June 26, 2026) describes it as solo only. Cancellation policies and no-show fees start on Plus. It is not built for beauty, though Square Go offers a free marketplace profile.

#4: Vagaro

Best for: Larger studios that want a long add-on menu.

Vagaro's brow and lash page lists intake forms for brow tinting and patch tests, plus deposits and a marketplace. The catch: forms, text marketing, and other tools are priced separately, and online deposits run at 3.5% plus $0.19.

#5: Fresha

Best for: Pros who want a low subscription and a marketplace.

$19.95 for one bookable team member, with 100 free text reminders a month, then $0.02 each (Fresha pricing page). Third-party tracker CostBench (verified July 24, 2026) records a July 2026 price rise from $13 to $20. The catch: 20% on new marketplace clients, $0.08 per marketing text, and online payments at 2.79% plus $0.20.

#6: Booksy

Best for: Pros who want marketplace discovery and a per-user plan.

$29.99 for one user with 2,000 marketing texts included and free reminders. The catch: 30% of a Boost client's first visit, and $20 a month per added user.

#7: StyleSeat

Best for: Pros who want a marketplace and a low intro price.

$19 a month on the pricing page (a limited-time new-pro rate, $199 a year), with deposits, card on file, and intake forms listed. The catch: 30% of a first visit, and a pricing page and blog post that disagree ($19 and $35).

Specialty tools worth knowing

EasyWeek markets a brow and lash studio setup with a free plan and Pro from $8.33 a month (vendor-sourced, no pricing date). Brow Map NE, above, is a mapping aid, not a calendar. We found no brow-only booking platform with independent reviews.

Free Booking Software for Brow Artists and Waxing Specialists

Square Appointments has a $0 plan, with online payments at 3.3% plus $0.30. EasyWeek lists a free plan (vendor-sourced). Primzy is free for beauty school students until they graduate (enrollment is self-reported), with the pro tools except text messaging, so esthetics students can build a bookable link before they are licensed.

When Primzy Is Not the Best Fit

  • Discovery is your biggest need. Primzy's local discovery marketplace charges a one-time 15% on a brand-new client's first booking found there. Fresha, Booksy, and StyleSeat also run marketplaces, each with its own first-visit fee, so compare them and keep any that already sends you clients while you build your own list.
  • You need a legal-compliance guarantee on consent forms. Primzy's intake forms are e-signed and attached per service, but we make no legal-compliance claim about them. GlossGenius Gold and Vagaro also list forms.
  • You want no deposit on a low ticket. Our live policy requires 30%.
  • You want a no-show fee on a stored card. We do not offer that.
  • You run a team that needs payroll or a time clock. We do not offer either; GlossGenius Gold lists time tracking.
  • You want the lowest possible solo cost. Square Free at $0 wins on software price alone, though you pay its online processing rate.

How to Choose

If your biggest issue is cancellations: Take a deposit at booking and keep a waitlist, so a freed slot is offered right away.

If your biggest issue is patch tests and contraindications: Put the notice on the booking page, record the answer in client notes, and check where signed forms will live.

If your biggest issue is fees on small tickets: Compare commission and processing together, and remember percentages grow with you while a flat price does not.

If your biggest issue is tint recipes and brow maps: Choose a platform that links formulas and photos to the client, and confirm export.

If your biggest issue is finding new clients: Use a marketplace for discovery, give returning clients your own link, and track what each new client really costs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best booking software for brow artists and waxing specialists?

It depends on where your clients come from. If you bring your own, Primzy charges a flat $40 a month with 0% commission on bookings from your shared link, plus deposits, a cancellation waitlist, and a formula library. If you need new-client discovery, Fresha, Booksy, and StyleSeat run marketplaces that charge on first visits, per their own pricing pages checked October 2026.

How much does a marketplace take from a $50 brow or wax first visit?

Booksy takes 30% of a Boost client's first visit, capped at $100, so $15 on a $50 service (Booksy pricing page, checked October 2026). StyleSeat takes 30% of a first visit capped at $50 (StyleSeat pricing page, October 2026), also $15. Fresha takes 20% with a $6 minimum, so $10 (Fresha pricing page, October 2026).

Who should not be waxed?

The American Academy of Dermatology says not to wax while taking isotretinoin and for six months after the last dose (AAD isotretinoin FAQ, updated September 12, 2023). Its waxing guidance also says to stop prescription retinoids and retinol two to five days before waxing the face (AAD waxing guidance, page undated). Record these answers in client notes before every first wax.

How common are waxing cancellations?

Zenoti, a software vendor, reports that waxing cancellations rose to 18% in 2025 from 14% in 2024, with no-shows near 1% (Zenoti, July 16, 2026). It is vendor-sourced data, so treat it as a direction and not a guarantee. A deposit at booking and a waitlist for freed slots address the cancellation, not just the no-show.

Do online deposits cost extra in processing fees?

On some platforms they do. Vagaro's own pricing article (October 5, 2026) lists keyed-in payments at 3.5% plus $0.19 per transaction, while Koalendar's June 26, 2026 review lists $0.30, so confirm the rate with Vagaro. Ask every platform what rate applies to online deposits, not just to in-person payments.

Are there free booking options for brow artists and waxers?

Yes. Square Appointments has a $0 plan per Koalendar (June 26, 2026), though online payments carry 3.3% plus $0.30. Primzy is free for beauty school students until they graduate (enrollment is self-reported), with every pro tool except text messaging, so esthetics students can start taking waxing appointments before they graduate.
